We’re currently looking to recruit a Head of Investments to manage the Shell Nigeria Closed Pension Fund Administrator (SNCPFA) Investment Portfolio within acceptable risk parameters and in accordance with Shell Group, SNCPFA policies and relevant statutes. The successful candidate will optimise liability matching, maximise the return on investment and the value of funds under management.

Responsibilities:
In this role, you’ll be expected to: 
 

  • Develop and implement plans and strategies for the pension fund scheme and funds under management
  • Assess, analyse and prepare investment and divestment proposals for approval by the investment committee
  • Build and maintain expert knowledge of investment market developments that will affect local pension fund management
  • Establish and maintain cordial and mutually beneficial business and professional relationships with financial intermediaries, stockbrokers, registrars, other stakeholders and regulatory bodies.

Requirements:
With a good university degree, and extensive experience as a qualified stock-broker, we’d also prefer you to be a chartered accountant. A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualification would be an advantage, and you’ll have good knowledge of Nigerian money and capital markets. 
 

You should have working experience in a financial institution with responsibility for capital markets, institutional banking, corporate finance, performance assessment or financial control activities, while good interpersonal, team working, networking and negotiation skills are essential.

Job Role
The Chief Operating Officer assists the CEO/MD in managing the Company to ensure its development. Through a constructive and energetic management style, guided by the strategic goals and objectives of the Company, the COO provides the leadership management and vision necessary to insure that company has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, marketing and business development strategies, and staff in place to effectively grow the organization and to ensure financial strength and operating efficiency.

The COO will :

* Work with the CEO/MD and other members of the senior management team. develop and accomplish strategic organizational goals and objectives and a 3 – 5 year business plan;
* Strategically leverage established industry contacts and previous experience to identify and develop new business opportunities and retain existing business by increasing value-added services;
* Oversee and manage the day to day operations of the company ensuring that they remain in line with the articulated goals arid objectives of the Company and meet agreed organizational performance plans within agreed budgets and timescales;
* Participate in, support and drive the company’s strategic and tactical planning, quality control, organizational development, processes, technology development and general marketing functions;
* Develop underwriting procedures and ensure compliance and underwriting discipline throughout multiple functions (underwriting, marketing, actuarial);
* Ensure the Company’s underwriting principles and modeling proceed in accordance with standard and international best practices and regulations;
* Work closely with division heads to review results, client opportunities. underwriting practices and overall business performance/productivity;
* Establish and maintain appropriate systems and templates and standards for measuring, monitoring and reporting on key aspects of the company’s operational performance;
* Ensure that the business has the necessary qualified people and other resources to achieve the desired business results;
* Manage, motivate and develop staff;
* Execute the responsibilities of a company director according to relevant legal requirements and ethical standards.

Who we’re looking for
Candidates will have a strong background in Reinsurance. Insurance, and ideally in the African underwriting industry.
You have been successful in managing international issue, and you demonstrate an ability to formulate strategies and policies and translate these into action in a fast growing and challenging market environment.

Our client is a dynamic Investment Fund, involved in Private Equity operations on the african continent. The Fund is investing in a leading Reinsurance company in Nigeria and is looking to recruit a Chief Operating Officer Africa.
